MKM Gallery presents a new folio from the Treasure Series by Istanbul artist Onur Hastürk, showing a masterful engagement with 16th- and 17th-century illuminated manuscripts and miniature painting. Meticulous in technique, and fluid in its gender imagery, the series "Pleasure Gardens" explores highly stylized depictions of physical pleasures embedded within the floral aesthetics of traditional miniatures. Onur Hastürk (*1983 in Mersin) was trained in the traditional art of gilding, Ottoman miniature paintings and Islamic illuminated manuscripts. He studied art and design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, conducted artistic research in New York, and received his Master's degree from the Department of Fine Arts at Marmara University in Istanbul. Hastürk's work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Istanbul and internationally, including shows in Milan, Rome, Porto, London, Dubai, and Düsseldorf. The artist lives and works in Istanbul. Solo & Friends exhibitions are dedicated to one single position, accompanied by the entire current ensemble of MKM artists.
